I recently read this book, too, and I thought it was great! Loral gives so much good information, and the real-life stories were very inspiring. I am working to boost my freelance business, and I am also taking on new tutoring clients. I think the hardest part for me was putting a price on my services, but this book showed me that I shouldn't be afraid to value my abilities and ask for what I am worth. I highly recommend it!

We got some soil from Home Depot and then, where we live, we can get free mulch from the city. We get a LOT of that and that's what we use along with some organic food.

omg...It hadn't occurred to me to use those bricks to make a simple raised bed!!! Maybe I'M a little simple...lol!
I've been thinking about building one with wood...something I have no experience with. But I can do the brick! Woohoo!
Your garden looks awesome, btw!

I read about that study with the babies a long time ago and it really upset me. It was done somewhere around the turn of the century. It breaks my heart to think about those babies who weren't given loving touch. It's soooo sad to me. I'm trying to remember where I read about it, but it was so long ago I don't recall. I do remember, however, that it was definitely done on human babies.

I treated myself to pure fankincense oil (purchased through Natural Zing--tell them I sent you if anyone reading this buys it, since I get a tiny commission that adds to my savings to buy more of it! giggles), which seemed really extravagant. However, I wanted to "treat" myself and I bought it. I have NEVER regretted purchasing it!

Revvell, you know it's best to be careful with essential oils, but maybe some of your readers don't realize that too much of some of them can harm the body. It's best to be careful (certainly use them--they are amazing--but be careful with the doses used).

Lots of love to you,

Wendi
XOXOXO

I read this book in 1994 and loved it. I think it has the information about the infant study that was done on touching. I remember that part of the book being so hard to read.

OMG! I finally got logged in like 12 hours later! I forgot that someone else has Rawbin on RFT and this site is Rawbin but I forgot to make sure I capitalized the R because it was case sensitive. Then I forgot what I was going to tell you in my comment, but I'm sure it had to do with forgetting things and memory loss, but I don't remember exactly. If I remember, I'll try to tell you before I forget again! If you come up with some miracle plan to cure my memory loss(Senior Moment, Blonde Moment, Half-tzheimers, Brain Cramp), let me know.
Anyway, what I do remember that I wanted to say to you is that I'm glad you're here and doing what you do because many of us truly appreciate what you do because you're doing it so well.

Reading through this, I couldn't stop crying when I read this part: "I went with him to his place… no sex, nothing. He took me home." I don't know why it touches me so deeply, but it does--maybe because it shows that there is still hope, or something, and that not all men are the same (something I intellectually know, but on some level don't completely believe, yet).

I, too, suffered from repeated sexual abuse. I have memory and speech problems, as well. I have since learned that it's because I've suffered from Post Tramatic Stress Disorder from as early as four years old--and each time abuse occurred, or even the threat of abuse (real or perceived), the PTSD was triggered at a deeper level. It really messes with the adrenals, among other things. I have wickedly vivid memories of many things from as young as two years old, yet blocks of no memories at all for other times.

It's remarkable what our bodies/brains go through in order to protect us. You, dear Revvell, are a true survivor and I love that you are open and sharing yourself with others. It is through sharing that others can be helped.

I think it's impressive that you are realizing what is going on and you are experimenting and finding ways to get around the memory/speech problems. Going 100% raw really helped me a lot with my speech/memory. It doesn't give me back the blocks of missing time, but I am able to more easily remember recent things.

Thank you for all that you do. I love you, Revvell.

It only took me four tries, but I finally logged in!

I wanna LIVE! That's why I don't feel bad when people ask me if I wish my life was normal. To me "normal" (or most people's definition of it) = boring. I love my life. Most don't perceive it as easy, and a lot of times it's not. But it's a rich full life filled with love and amazing people and opportunities. And each day just keeps getting better and better! :D

LIVE already people! Life goes by in a blink of an eye. Don't be the person no one remembers! Stand out! Make your mark on this world in THIS life! :)

I'm with you on this one, Shine and Rev, I also "hate excuses"!

Getting what you want takes resiliency and resourcefulness which does not come from rare or special qualities, but sometimes from the everyday magic of what our society refers to as "menial" jobs. To me personally, ANY job is an honorable job, and when you see it that way, it adds more meaning and peace to your life. Also seeing the honor of what you do now, creates and ideal foundation upon which a career change can be built.

I've done them ALL (ie au pair, cashier, house painter, drill press operator, delivery person, etc) from the time I left home at 15/16 (and had no place of my own to call home) while attending night school. Worked and paid my way through college too!

Much later, my husband and I wanted to purchase a house, so we worked aternating shifts so that one of us would always be home with our three children. Even went right back to work after a debilitating illness that required months of physical and speech rehab in the early 80's so that I could continue to contribute to the childrens' college fund. Not an easy task, especially since I was no longer to able to legally drive.

So, if there is a will, there IS a way!! Don't want to hear excuses either!

Guilty as charged. I'm pretty sure I'm the one Revvell's referring to at the end of the blog. ;) Anything is possible. I took all the knowledge I have about autism and raw and living foods and started up my own company. And I didn't spend a lot doing it (didn't have a lot to spend even if I had wanted to). Doesn't mean I work at it every day. Some days, 15 minutes seem like MORE than I can spare. But I have faith that what needs to get done will get done. What needs to get paid will get paid. When the need for the money is there, a client will show themselves. YES, I put work into it. There are times I don't sleep much or not at all. But, I DO get done what needs to get done, when it needs to be done. And if it doesn't need to get done and I don't have the time, I don't sweat that either. If you set your mind to it, you CAN do anything. Maybe not all at the same time (we are human after all), but it CAN be and get done eventually. I'm dealing with 1 child with autism, 2 children with scoliosis, alternative therapy modalities coming out of my ears, working on writing my books and e-books, oodles of research, homeschooling, deployments, trying to have a semblance of a life and a sex life when hubby IS here, and no family ANYWHERE nearby (closest family is about 6+ hours away. If I can do it, what's your excuse?

(Sorry Revvell, but you know how I hate excuses, and when someone says "but I REALLY want it" and then come up with them, I get a lil' bit wound up!)

That's what I did! I needed extra money, but wanted to be home when my kids got off the bus or needed to stay home sick. I was a stay-at-home mom for 3 years, but when I actually needed to rewrite my resume, I was surprised at all the odd jobs I had added to my "free time". I sold junk on ebay, mine and other peoples. I worked in a neighbor's garden, weeding and landscaping. I trained a few horses and a few other little jobs. Now while publication sales manager at my "real job" I've been scrubbing boat bottoms for "spare change". I've promised all my income to the bills except my last September paycheck. It's earmarked for a 9 tray Excalibur dehydrator! Yay!!!

Hi Cynthia and Rawkin. Thank you for responding.

I'm 59; never had a mammogram, don't intend to. I don't know if breastfeeding children really makes on immune to breast cancer or not but having mammo's certainly doesn't.

I have a friend whose life was saved by doctors but that's about the only time I'd go to one ~ certainly not for a lifestyle created dis-ease.

My grandmother had one breast removed because of cancer. My sister's theory is that there was no real proof that it was breast cancer, & now the breast is gone who knows?

My sister refuses to get a mammogram and at 47 has yet to get one. She says that she breast fed 3 children which makes her more immune to breast cancer than before. She's always been one to question doctors, (which I find funny since she had a near fatal car accident and it was the doctors that saved her)

Me? I've had several incidents causing me to question some doctors. Because of my grandmother, for the past 10 years the doctors have been telling me to get a mammogram every year. I've had 2(perhaps 2 too many?). I'm afraid not to get it, but I'm very good at putting it off. Shoot, I don't even remember to do the self exam... officially anyway.

When I first think about this topic, I become weak in the knees. Then I become outraged. How could we have strayed so far from balance? From knowing that dis-ease is just that, an imbalance. There is no mystery here. Illness just doesn't "happen"... it doesn't just fly into us by random chance. It is cause and effect. Eliminate the cause, the effect is regained health. Cut out/nuke/chemicalize the cause to relieve the symptom, but the effect will reappear somewhere else... usually with a vengence. In the meantime, you are giving away your power and lining the pockets of Big Pharma and members of the AMA. Kudos to you for calling it like it is. Cynthia

Hi Eva,

Thank you for your comments. All his research is in the back of the book mentioned. Don't know which he used for that statement or if it was just from his own experience and/or that of his clients.

It'll be interesting to hear what others have to stay. Stay tuned.

Thank you for your comments. All his research is in the back of the book mentioned. Don’t know which he used for that statement or if it was just from his own experience and/or that of his clients.

It’ll be interesting to hear what others have to stay. Stay tuned.

I've been trying to learn more about this, so it's interesting this topic came up here! Interesting thoughts there... I guess I could see that. So perhaps, really it's just a paradigm shift in the way he's describing it. From my current knowledge base, I would have to disagree.

I come from a unique point of view (well, sort of unique) because I have been detoxing cacao for several days and went through a really strong detox from coffee and another from Ritalin. I know that what I felt was a deficit after regularly consuming those substances. I would get flashes of joy and concentration when taking them, but then be confused, bewildered and less happy when they began to wear off, with a headache to boot. This was both physiological and psychological. I wouldn't equate those things to being merely emotional or about perception.

I don't know if cooked food falls into the "reward" category in the mesolimbic dopamine system as drugs do. I think the quote above, as a general statement about addiction, seems to be minimizing something profoundly more complicated than a shift in perception.

I'd be curious to read the research he used or the rationale beyond the snippet.

With re: to the previous post -

I don't see it as "wrong and hurtful to those looking for a cure". If you are a follower of the raw forums, then you are well aware of the countless testmonials given by others (w autoimmune diseases) that attest to the fact that they have experienced dramatic improvements once they made the transition. Feeling a helluva lot better, even in the event it does not afford the ultimate "cure" for all, IS definitely a step in the right direction!

Hi Just want to clarify: Type 1 diabetes is NOT a lifestyle disease. Type 2 is. Let me explain. Yes, Type 2, in which the body still produces insulin but has trouble using it, is triggered by weight gain, sedentary lifestyle and other things. Making changes to those things can often help a person. HOWEVER, Type 1 is an AUTOIMMUNE disease. Something -- and researchers still don't know what, triggers the person's T cells in the immune system to reverse and attack the beta cells of the pancreas, destroying the insulin producing cells. NOTHING a person did "caused" it and nothing they can do will change that (until researchers find a way to reverse the autoimmunity). My daughter was young (5), thin active (tennis, swimming, playground, biking, skiing, soccer) and well cared for when she was diagnosed. You need to remove this post. It's wrong and hurtful to those of us searching for a cure.

Great Article by a Master herself!

I have worked on myself as has alot of people, by clearing out the ego parts and then I come to the section of my life wondering who I am now since I can't identify with ego any longer. It is a scary thing at some point and you do feel lost, but there is light at the end of the tunnel....follow your soul and WIN!

Love and Light, Revvell!

Thank you for clarifying this for me, Pansy
