Organic Healing Body Care Products

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Recently I received a lovely package of body care products from Bethanne Wanamaker of Organic Healing. Now, I don’t use products other than what I make and just plain ol’ shea butter if I need a moisturizer BUT, looking at the ingredients and smelling the products, I HAD to give them a try!

First off, the fragrances ~ Other than one, I find them delightful, titillating, soothing and enticing. The reason I say all but one is, I’m not a coffee lover so, the final one, Mocha Java Healing Body Scrub, for ME, isn’t that great but if you love or even like the fragrance of coffee you will ADORE that one. The rest to me are clean, rich, decadent yet NOT overpowering! As a matter of fact, I keep opening the jars and using the “silks” just to smell them.

Packaging ~ interesting but not totally enticing. A bit difficult to read and I had no idea what some of the products were supposed to be used for. O.k., body scrub… I guess I can figure that one out. Beauty Silk decadence? Body Silk Serenity? Maybe it’s because I’m not a user of body products that I don’t understand what body silk means. Lucky I had the brochure (and read it) because there’s nothing on the label to tell me what to do with these.

Ingredients ~ I don’t think they can get any more pure. You’ve heard the saying “I don’t use anything on my skin I wont eat”? Well, I wont eat coffee grounds (or drink coffee) but, I WILL put it on my skin! I would say about 99.9% of what’s in these products is edible. (Not sure about anstrom sulfur but only because I’ve not taken the time to look it up).

Products ~ As I said, I don’t use anything I don’t make myself. Well, in the last few days I’ve taken more showers and baths than I normally would just because I want to use these products. Even though I’m not the fondest of the Mocha Java fragrance, I absolutely LOVE putting it on my skin. I think it’s the “harsher” (for lack of a better word ~ it’s not really “harsh” but what? More exfoliating feeling?) of the two scrubs yet, to me, it just feels SO good! I just keep on rubbing until my skin glows. It leaves a very light oil patina to the skin. I don’t need to use any of the silks but I do because I love the way they feel. I keep Decadence by my bed and rub a little bit around my eyes and under my chin/neck every so often ~ so I can smell and feel it.

I give myself a body massage with the Serenity for the same reason ~ feel, smell.

For fragrance, personally I adore the Creamy Cocoa Maca Body Scrub. My problem with this one is the oil. As soon as I opened the jar, I saw an abundance of oil above the brown sugar scrub. I find it also leaves too much oil on my skin.

So far, I’ve showered with the Mocha Java and tubbed with both body scrubs. I love the Mocha Java as a scrub (gonna shower with the Cocoa Maca next as I make and enjoy sugar scrubs, especially brown sugar and this one smells SO delish and, I’ve not given it the shower test yet). In the tub, they both leave rings. Hey! They contain oil! Gotta expect it! Cocoa Maca left the biggest ring. So, what to do? After tub soak and rinsing off, I keep a coarse sponge and some Dr. Bronners liquid soap and do the clean-up immediately. Bathing with scrubs is relaxing and invigorating bringing a nice balance. Cleaning up after… no problem.

On a scale of 1- 5 with 5 being the best:

Packaging ~ 3 1/2 ~ Suggestions ~ make them easier to read and add directions so we know what to use the “silks” for.

Body Silk Serenity ~ 5 ~ I love it all. The fragrance, the feel, the ingredients.
Body Silk Decandence ~ 5 ~ see Serenity ~ awesome stuff
Healing Body Scrub ~ Creamy Cocoa Maca ~ 4 ~ More sugar, less oil or, a different oil. The fragrance is wonderful!
Healing Body Scrub ~ Mocha Java ~ for me, 4 1/2 ~ anyone who likes coffee, 5+ ~ I LOVE this scrub!

Here’s what they say: Made Fresh to Order; Raw; Free of Toxins and Preservatives (I’m thinking she means artificial preservatives because Vit. E is a natural preservative.)

I’m very happy Bethanne is making these. I feel they are needed. They feed so many parts of one’s being via the fragrances, the feel, the fact that skin absorbs what’s put on it… These are truly great products. Get some; support her and what she’s doing. You’ll be supporting yourself by not only NOT putting poisons on your skin but by feeding it wholesome, raw, natural foods. There is nothing in these you can’t pronounce. I can’t recommend them enough if you’re looking for great products. We put healthy inside, now, you’ve can put healthy outside. (All the ingredients are listed on the site).

Final words… these feel more like winter products to me. I just looked at her menu and she’s got more choices. Try them! Use them! I guarantee you’ll love them! AND, take advantage of the April 2009 sale!!! Please mention my name when ordering.

Injoy,

Revvell

Last week Bo had a gig about 200 miles away. We’d been talking about going away for a day or two during the week and we decided this would be a good time so, we chose to go a day earlier so we could spend some time at the beach just enjoying. Here are a few pics:
