I’m with you on this one, Shine and Rev, I also “hate excuses”!

Getting what you want takes resiliency and resourcefulness which does not come from rare or special qualities, but sometimes from the everyday magic of what our society refers to as “menial” jobs. To me personally, ANY job is an honorable job, and when you see it that way, it adds more meaning and peace to your life. Also seeing the honor of what you do now, creates and ideal foundation upon which a career change can be built.

I’ve done them ALL (ie au pair, cashier, house painter, drill press operator, delivery person, etc) from the time I left home at 15/16 (and had no place of my own to call home) while attending night school. Worked and paid my way through college too!

Much later, my husband and I wanted to purchase a house, so we worked aternating shifts so that one of us would always be home with our three children. Even went right back to work after a debilitating illness that required months of physical and speech rehab in the early 80’s so that I could continue to contribute to the childrens’ college fund. Not an easy task, especially since I was no longer to able to legally drive.

So, if there is a will, there IS a way!! Don’t want to hear excuses either!

Guilty as charged. I’m pretty sure I’m the one Revvell’s referring to at the end of the blog. Anything is possible. I took all the knowledge I have about autism and raw and living foods and started up my own company. And I didn’t spend a lot doing it (didn’t have a lot to spend even if I had wanted to). Doesn’t mean I work at it every day. Some days, 15 minutes seem like MORE than I can spare. But I have faith that what needs to get done will get done. What needs to get paid will get paid. When the need for the money is there, a client will show themselves. YES, I put work into it. There are times I don’t sleep much or not at all. But, I DO get done what needs to get done, when it needs to be done. And if it doesn’t need to get done and I don’t have the time, I don’t sweat that either. If you set your mind to it, you CAN do anything. Maybe not all at the same time (we are human after all), but it CAN be and get done eventually. I’m dealing with 1 child with autism, 2 children with scoliosis, alternative therapy modalities coming out of my ears, working on writing my books and e-books, oodles of research, homeschooling, deployments, trying to have a semblance of a life and a sex life when hubby IS here, and no family ANYWHERE nearby (closest family is about 6+ hours away. If I can do it, what’s your excuse?

(Sorry Revvell, but you know how I hate excuses, and when someone says “but I REALLY want it” and then come up with them, I get a lil’ bit wound up!)

That’s what I did! I needed extra money, but wanted to be home when my kids got off the bus or needed to stay home sick. I was a stay-at-home mom for 3 years, but when I actually needed to rewrite my resume, I was surprised at all the odd jobs I had added to my “free time”. I sold junk on ebay, mine and other peoples. I worked in a neighbor’s garden, weeding and landscaping. I trained a few horses and a few other little jobs. Now while publication sales manager at my “real job” I’ve been scrubbing boat bottoms for “spare change”. I’ve promised all my income to the bills except my last September paycheck. It’s earmarked for a 9 tray Excalibur dehydrator! Yay!!!
